The Minautor is an electric mining vehicle developped to be used in underground mines. It can transport two workers and their tools.

Braking system

  • The vehicle is equipped with four wheel mounted disc brakes.
  • A disc brake installed on the rear transaxle serves as parking brake and emergency service brake.
  • The motors switch into generating mode when decelerating or going down a slope. This fenerating mode will stop the vehicle on flat ground or on a slope of 5% or less.


  • Two 7,5kw electric motors, each capable of developing a torque of 130 Nm (96 ft-lbs) for a total of 2895 Nm of torque (2137 ft-lbs) at each axle.

Battery life cycle

The number of charges and discharges  depends upon the conditions of operation. It can vary between 1700 and 2700 cycles.


The batteries, without a thermal control system, can operate at temperatures between  -10°c and +50°c.

Battery charging

  • SAE J1772 compliant charging system for safety.
  • The time to charge the batteries depends upon the capacity of the charger and the level of discharge.
  • For a completely discharged battery pack, it will take: - 5 hours with a 4 kW charger -  3 hours with a 8 kW charger
  • 21,2 kWh are needed to fully recharge the batteries. In average, it cost $1,75 for a complete recharge (at 0.07$/kWh)
